Should I arrive to my color appointment with clean or dirty hair?

I am not sure why, but it seems our mothers all conspired to start this weird rumor in the 80’s or 90’s that you should always arrive to a color appointment with dirty hair. NOT TRUE, dear clients! Product build up, mineral build up, sweat, oil, etc can create a barrier to the hair and totally derail your appointment. If the color that we apply has to break through a bunch of build up before it can even begin to lift or deposit on your hair, you are looking at a lot of unplanned, additional processing time. It is also possible that this build up prevents color from lifting and depositing evenly. Please arrive to your color appointment with clean (within the last 24 hours) and detangled hair.

Is it important to bring a hair color inspo photo to my appointment or consultation?

Yes! Seeing a photo, or photos, of your desired outcome is the best possible way for us to get on the same page about what your goals are for your cut or color. Descriptive words can be helpful, but you’d be surprised by how differently people interpret words. A clear visual to assist with a thorough conversation and game plan are best.

I want to change my hair from dark brown to bright blonde, how long will that take?

Honestly, it could take 4 hours OR it could take 4 separate visits! The reality is that we sometimes don’t even know until we really get in there. Your natural color, texture, existing damage, previous hair color, and lifestyle are all factors that need to be considered when determining how long it will take to achieve your hair goals. Patience is key to maintaining your hair’s strength and condition as we get you to your ideal color. Sometimes it will be possible to achieve your goal in less time but it will likely mean more damage in the aftermath of that major change. The slower you are willing to go, the better it will be for the health, strength, and preserved length of your hair.

Is it possible to heal split ends?

Nope. Cut it off, babe. Once your hair begins to split, the split travels up the hair shaft and causes breakage, thinning, and dullness. There is no way to rectify the split other than to cut it off.

Do I really need to cut my hair every 6-8 weeks?

No. Unless your preferred style is very short or is a precision cut, there is no need to cut your hair every 6-8 weeks. There are a ton of personal variables to take into account when figuring out how frequently you should cut your hair. Existing damage, regular hair color application, texture, and hair length goals are all things that should be considered. For example, if you do not color your hair or use heat regularly, you do not need to cut your hair more frequently than every 4-6 months. If you are working on growing out your hair and you also color it frequently, you should plan to get a cut every 8 weeks or so in order to eliminate split ends, which allows for optimum growth. If you are ever unsure and want to come up with a plan that is suitable for your budget and unique hair goals, I invite you to book a complimentary consultation so that we can figure it out together.

What if I only want a ‘trim’? Do I still have to pay for a full haircut?

Yes. Regardless of if you want to cut off 1 inch or 6 inches of hair- the same amount of work is required for a stylist.

If you are an existing client you are eligible for one complimentary 15 minute clean up in between cuts. For long hair clients that could mean taking some of the weight out, or cleaning up the face framing pieces. For a short cut it generally means cleaning up the neckline, sideburns, and around the ears. The point of the clean up is to preserve the shape achieved in your original appointment and make that cut last longer. Plus, I love getting to check in with clients and make sure that they are happily working towards whatever their hair goals are.

Which payment methods are accepted?

Payment and gratuity via Venmo, Zelle, or cash are preferred. Credit cards are also accepted but are subject to a small processing fee.

Is the space available for rental?

Yes! If you are a stylist looking to rent a single chair, the cost for a one day (up to 8 hours) chair rental is 175.00. If you are interested in renting for more than one day, the cost goes down per day with every additional day within a one week period. Please inquire via email for pricing specifics. Long term rentals are also available to stylists who are looking to secure a set number of days per week.

If you are interested in renting the whole salon (both styling chairs) for a full day (up to 8 hours) during working hours, the cost is 300. If your rental exceeds 8 hours, there will be an additional hourly charge of 50.00 per hour.
